Jen Davies
Jen Davies RP (CRPO), CCC, Ed.D — Registered Psychotherapist

Jen is a Career Counsellor and Registered Psychotherapist regulated by CRPO. Her sessions may be covered by Ontario extended health benefit plans — including Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield, and Blue Cross. Check your plan with your benefits provider.

Benefits Coverage

Career counselling that may be covered by your benefits

Our team includes Jen Davies, a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Many Ontario extended health plans and EAP programs cover RP services — which means your sessions with Jen may qualify for reimbursement.

This is particularly valuable for London professionals at LHSC, St. Joseph’s, Western University, and large employers whose group plans include mental health coverage. Common providers include:

Canada Life Sun Life Manulife Green Shield Canada Blue Cross Ontario Desjardins
Check your plan first

Coverage varies by plan and employer. Ask your benefits provider or HR department whether “Registered Psychotherapist (RP)” services are covered under your mental health or counselling benefit.

EAP programs often cover career counselling

If your London employer has an Employee Assistance Program, career counselling sessions may be included — especially when delivered by a regulated health professional like an RP.

Documentation via Practice Better

All sessions are conducted through Practice Better, our secure telehealth platform. Session documentation is available to support benefits claims where applicable.

Self-pay options also available

Not every plan covers coaching — and that’s fine. We work with clients on a self-pay basis too. A free 20-minute discovery call is the best way to explore options and find the right fit.

London Industry Expertise

We know the sectors that drive London

London’s economy is anchored by one of Canada’s largest hospital systems, a world-class research university, and a strong manufacturing and technology base. Our coaches understand these industries from the inside — the career paths, the culture, and the moves professionals make within them.

Healthcare careers London Ontario
Healthcare & Medical Research

London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph’s & Western Medical Research

LHSC is London’s largest employer at 15,000 staff, with St. Joseph’s adding another 5,000. Western University drives significant medical research, contributing $1.5 billion annually to the London economy. We help nurses, clinical leaders, allied health professionals, researchers, and healthcare administrators navigate career advancement, sector transitions, and leadership moves within this ecosystem.

Education and research careers London Ontario
Education & Research

Western University, Fanshawe College & Thames Valley DSB

Western University, Fanshawe College, and the Thames Valley and London Catholic district school boards collectively employ thousands of educators, administrators, and researchers across London. We work with faculty, staff, and education professionals at all career stages — from early-career roles through to leadership transitions in academia and K–12.

Tech, manufacturing and financial services London Ontario
Technology, Manufacturing & Financial Services

300 Tech Companies, CAMI Automotive, General Dynamics & Canada Life

London is a quietly significant tech hub with 300 technology companies and 3% of its workforce in IT. Manufacturing remains anchored by CAMI Automotive and General Dynamics. The city’s financial services sector — including Canada Life (formerly London Life), TD Canada Trust, and Libro Credit Union — provides thousands of professional roles. Our coaches help professionals navigate all three sectors.

Agriculture & Agri-Food

Southwestern Ontario’s agricultural belt surrounds London — and its agri-food and food processing professionals have unique career needs that generic coaches miss.

Arts, Culture & Non-Profit

London’s active arts scene — festivals, galleries, the Grand Theatre — and large non-profit sector create real but underserved career transition needs.

Western & Fanshawe New Grads

Thousands of graduates enter London’s job market each year and need real guidance — not just a resume template — to land roles that fit their goals.

Municipal & Public Sector

The City of London and Middlesex County are significant employers. Career moves within and out of the public sector require a specific approach we understand well.

Programs & Services

Everything you need to move forward

All programs are delivered one-on-one via Practice Better — our secure telehealth platform — and designed around your specific situation, career stage, and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about career coaching in London

What does career counselling in London actually involve?

Career counselling at Careers by Design is a structured, one-on-one process — not generic advice or resume templates. Sessions are conducted through Practice Better, our secure telehealth platform, and can be booked at times that fit around your schedule. We work with you to clarify your goals, identify your strengths, and build a realistic plan for your next career move — whether that’s a promotion, a sector change, or landing after a layoff. The first step is a free 20-minute conversation to explore whether we’re the right fit.

Which London employers and sectors do you have the most experience with?

We have extensive experience with London’s largest sectors: healthcare and medical research (London Health Sciences Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Care London, Western University’s medical research programs), education (Western, Fanshawe College, Thames Valley DSB, London District Catholic School Board), and technology, manufacturing, and financial services (CAMI Automotive, General Dynamics, Canada Life, TD Canada Trust, Libro Credit Union). We also work regularly with municipal professionals at the City of London and Middlesex County, and with Western and Fanshawe new graduates entering the job market.

How long does a typical coaching program take?

Most clients complete a structured program over 8–12 weeks, with sessions spaced to allow time for reflection, job search activities, and applying what you’ve learned between appointments. Some clients work with us for a focused sprint of 4–6 weeks; others prefer an extended engagement of 3–6 months depending on the complexity of their transition. The pace is always tailored to your situation. We’ll discuss the right approach on your free intro call.

Can I use my Ontario benefits or EAP to pay for career counselling?

Quite possibly, yes. Our coach Jen Davies holds an RP designation — Registered Psychotherapist — regulated by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Many Ontario extended health plans cover RP services under their mental health or counselling benefit. Common providers include Canada Life, Sun Life, Manulife, Green Shield Canada, Blue Cross Ontario, and Desjardins. EAP programs at London employers like LHSC, St. Joseph’s, and Western University may also cover career counselling when delivered by a regulated health professional. We recommend checking with your HR department or benefits provider before your first session. Self-pay options are also available.
